Herein lies my creative project for an interdisciplinary course at McGill entitled "Imagining the Child". Arthur Russell and his album "World of Echo" served as my point of inspiration.
With very little time (final exams season...) and minimal resources (Audacity and a built-in laptop microphone), I sampled three of his pieces, rearranged and stitched together the elements, added a drum track and recorded myself on the cello to form a patchwork piece.
In the process of creation, I also had to draw connections between childhood creativity and Arthur's musical process/aesthetic through theoretical analysis. If you wish to read the accompanying paper, get in touch and I will send it to you!
